On Saturday, June 28, Wallesterians from across Europe gathered in Estonia for our annual summer party – and it was epic.
The theme of this year’s bash was Miami Vice, and we went all out to bring the heat and passion, even though the Estonian weather was about as un-Miami as possible.
Our tribe gathered in Tallinn in the morning, from where we hopped on a few buses and headed out to Paekalda Holiday Centre for a day of teambuilding and healthy competition.
A big shout out goes to our events team, who really pushed out the bar for this year’s party, as dancers, music, and delicious food and drinks welcomed Wallesterians to the resort. We truly felt like VIPs as we were hustled into photo booths, welcomed by the hosts, presented with amazing branded gifts, and handed glasses of bubbly to ensure we got right into the spirit of things.
These annual Summer Days are a wonderful opportunity to connect with colleagues in a relaxed and beautiful environment, meet new faces (as we’re growing so rapidly that there are many new additions), and catch up with old friends.
With offices in four countries, gathering us all in one location is invaluable for reinforcing our company’s culture, vision, and philosophy.
After a delicious lunch, we gathered in teams for a raucous quiz game that took in everything from pop culture and trivia knowledge to free-association word puzzles. Congratulations to the Walkman Warriors, who ‘walked’ away with the spoils.
By late afternoon, some team members were brave enough to take a dip in the chilly lake, despite the inclement weather, or participate in the wide range of activities on the resort’s beautiful lawns. In contrast, others headed for the saunas and hot tubs to warm up, while those who felt creative participated in a fun branding workshop with the marketing team. Thanks also to our partner Visa, who sent us a lovely Stand Up Paddle-Board for the event. Unfortunately the weather did not play along, but we’ll be testing it out soon.
Then it was on to dinner and dancing, which carried on till well after midnight.
As we boarded the buses back to Tallinn, there were many happy faces to be seen. It was a celebration that will live long in the memory. Still, more importantly, it helped us reconnect on a deeply personal level that is not always possible during regular working hours. We are ready to face the future with a newfound sense of camaraderie and a team spirit that will sustain our souls and nurture our creativity.
